He would succeed in getting to Hell, but fail in the rescue attempt. Years later, Victor would attend Empire State University, where he would use magic and science in an attempt to take himself to Hell and rescue Cynthia. Boris Dobos would unofficially adopt Victor. He would lose his mother to the demons of Hell, and later his father in the frostbitten mountains of Latveria.
Victor Von Doom was born to Werner and Cynthia Von Doom at a Romani camp outside of Haasenstadt, the former name of Doomstadt.
